He&#39;s adopted by Dan Unger (James Belushi) a security guard - an ex-cop, who&#39;s a widower with a moody teen son, Jack. While Barsinister and Cad plot to catch him and take over the city. &#39;Underdog&#39; is a dog super-hero, originally a comic strip creation, and here played by a live beagle. This film is a wild and unrestrained satire on comic book superheroes, which makes fun of Superman in particular. Here Underdog wears a Superman-style capehe flies, and he changes costume in a payphone booth. He is always saving people in distress. All the dogs in this film talk, and underdog&#39;s voice is by Jason Lee. This film is not a classic ultra-hilarious comedy in the mould of BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA (2008, see my review, soon to be followed by BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA 2, which is eagerly awaited by the entire Dog Kingdom and people like me too). But it is funny enough to give a lot of laughs and be most enjoyable. All those soreheads who have given bad reviews for this film clearly do not love dogs, or have no sense of humour, or both. It comesa shock to see the Mayor in this film played by John Slattery,now that he has subsequently played Roger Sterling in MAD MEN and is etched on all our brains foreverthat person, we can never allow him to be another character again. How dare he play somebody else earlier in his career! Amy Adams gives a very good voice for Polly, the canine girlfriend of Underdog. As the film tagline says, Underdog is &#39;saving the world, one paw at a time&#39;, but he is making those of us who know how to laugh do so two guffaws at a time. The sillier this film gets, the funnier it gets. That is because it is silly on purpose. Geddditttt? I was browsing through the movies on demand and saw Underdog for free and it was only 82 minutes long so I decided to watch it. I wasn&#39;t expecting much but it exceeded my expectations of being awful. Everything about the movie was cringe worthy. The dialogue was atrocious including many terrible puns. The jokes were also terrible. I found myself yelling and flipping off my television screen while I was suffering through this trash. It hit its target audience very well but I don&#39;t see how anyone else could enjoy this film. It made me very angry and nearly cry because of everything terrible this film had going for it.<br/><br/>The only enjoyable thing about this movie was being able to give it a 1/10 after viewing it. I beg you to avoid it at all costs. I understand the fact that its made for kids but there is nothing likable about it at all. The bite and bark of Underdog are both pretty awful, but little kids might take this pooch for a walk.
